Good Bye and Good Riddance

We are finally out of New York. I don't really care for the place personally. Most of the people you meet are kinda mean and everyone is in a hurry. I guess being from the south has a lot to do with the way I feel. I do have to admit that I seen a part of it that I wouldn't have believed was New York if I hadn't seen it for myself. We had to go from Binghamton over to White Plains and we took 17 east. What a pretty ride, there is a winding river on one side of the road and mountains on the other side. There were all these little cabins sitting along the river, covered in snow, alot of the water was froze. I wish I could have gotten some pictures, but it was already getting dark and my camera will not take a good picture thru the windshield at that time of day.

We are on our way to South Carolina, and when I spoke with Robert today he said he would get us home for the weekend.

Snow, Snow and more dang Snow

I have seen enough snow for awhile. It's great if you are watching it through a window sitting in front of a fireplace, but what we went through last night was as far from fun as you can get. The roads were icy and it was hard to see, I didn't know that you are not suppose to watch the snow coming at you, that you should watch the road right in front of you. I didn't know that it would make you nauseous. On top of everything else the directions that we had were wrong, so we had to find a place to exit and then get back on the highway, well in New York that is easier said then done in a big truck, we ended up rubbing the guard rail with the tires on the trailer, we didn't have any damage but it sure made a awful noise and we were both pretty tense anyway. It took us almost 4 hours to go 80 miles, but we could only go about 25 to 30 mph. So we are ready to head south for some warm weather and sunshine, they can have all this snow.

New Red Truck

This is the new truck, as you can see it already has snow on it, more about that later...all I can say is I don't really like New York.

Snow

We hit snow in TN, but since then, not much. Adolph said he heard someone on the CB that said that Syracuse NY got 2 foot last night, that is about 10 miles from where we are headed. Hopefully it will all be melted by the time we get there tonight or in the morning.

Good Morning All

We are in TN, and it is snowing. I have a feeling we are going to see alot more before we start heading south again. Oh I just want to mention that while Robert, Susan and I were moving stuff, Adolph was moving the stuff in the cargo hold and hooking up the buzz box that powers the coffee pot, and hooking up the CB radio. It may have sounded like he didn't help and that is not true, so I just wanted to make that clear. Our first night in the truck was pretty good, I did wake up cold, but I am so used to having him right beside me and he is like a heater. I will put some more blankets in here when we get back home, untill then we will let the truck run at night and keep the heater on. I will try to get some snow pictures later today and post them. Ya'll have a good day.

Moving Day

Well today was moving day and as you can see Adolph tuckered out early, but I did have some help. Robert and Susan really saved the day. I was in the green truck and Susan was in the red one with Robert on the ground transfering everything. We had everything moved in about an hour, but it took me the rest of the day to get it all put away. Luke (robert and susan's little boy) even helped in his own way. I still have a hard time reaching the top shelf even with the step stool, but the extra storage is great. So we are off on our first run in the new truck. We are headed to Liverpool, NY, and I took our winter coats and boots out of the truck when we were home last weekend. I told Adolph "I don't think we are going to need them anymore, it's starting to warm up now" Oh well...live and learn.

Yippy, Yahoo & Hot Diggety Dog

Well it's official, We are going into a bigger truck tomorrow. When we got to our home office this morning Adolph's boss handed him a set of keys and told him to go look at that one and see what he thought. It is GREAT. It's Red, it has tons more storage (a lot of it out of my reach) , and it has two beds. I will be able to read, play on my computer or just get out of bed without bothering him. I will try and post some "before" pictures tomorrow. He has already called Johnny to see if he will help him buff out the paint on it. So he will be busy tinkering with it for a while.

Deadlines

Deadlines...I love them , I really love the whooshing sound they make when they go flying by. Today we are working a brokered load. We had a live load (we wait in the truck while it is being loaded) in Mebane NC, then we have to run down to Easley, SC where they will add more to what is already on the truck. Well we didn't leave Mebane untill almost 2:00 and the girl at the broker said that the one in Easley closes at 4:00. WHOOSH. Good thing about this is we will get a good nights sleep tonight, and maybe a decent meal instead of fast food. Then we will get loaded in the morning and head back up to Cullman.

whew!!!

Well we went through "the gorge" in NC. I would imagine that it is a very pretty ride during the day with the sun shining, but at night in the pouring down rain...well thats a different story. To make things worst, the NOAA came over the cb and said that there was a possibility of freezing rain...okay, God be with us. Coming down the other side is 5 mile @ 35mph because of the steep grade. There are several runaway truck ramps, places where there are flashing lights if you are going too fast (by the way they were flashing), and a place you have to stop to check the brakes. We made it through unscathed, I can't say as much for the car that bounced off the center wall and ended up along side the guard rail on the other side of the road...when we went by them they had climbed over the concrete barrier and was standing in the rain waiting on a tow truck. At least no one was hurt. I hope that we get to go back that way sometime, but during the day so I can take some pictures.

Jeff Gordon Wins

Yea, thats right, I'm a Gordon Fan. Always have been. Whats worse than that I also root for Jimmy Johnson. There I said it, so what better way to start the season than with a win. Yea, I'm gloating, but here lately I haven't gotten much of a chance, so when I do, I take advantage of it. I live with Jeff & Jimmy haters (Adolph & Lois) and Johnny, I can't even tell you what he calls them, It just wouldn't be lady like. The way I look at it, being a Gordon fan and letting people know it, is kinda like being a christian, some people will put you down and make fun of you, but you just hafta have faith. At least I'm not a Kyle Busch Fan. Yuck!!!

No Truck

Well we got to Cullman about midnight and the new truck was there. We climbed up in it and to our dismay it was not a double bunk like we were expecting, so we decided to stay in this one untill a double buck becomes available. For those of you that have never been inside a semi, the bunk is about the size of a twin bed. We sleep at opposite ends so we have more room...well I twitch my feet at night, I always have, I don't know why..I don't even realize that I'm doing it, but It drives Adolph crazy. He never noticed untill we started sleeping like this. So to solve the problem, he may tie my feet together. Just kidding.

We just got word today that our new (to us) truck is ready to be picked up. We are on our way back to Cullman, AL to move everything over to the bigger truck. I will post pictures as soon as I can, but knowing Adolph the way I do, he is going to want to wash it before he will let me take any pictures.

For my NASCAR friends

This is what Talladega Super Speedway looks like going down I-20 at 75 mph. Trying to take a good picture from a big truck is like trying to nail jello to the wall...just can't be done. Hey, I tried.

My Honey

Here's Adolph... working hard. He looks like a natural don't he? For those of you who don't know, he was a roofer for 24 years, so this job is like a never ending vacation...kinda. Sometimes we don't get as much sleep as we would like and I get a little home sick after about a week or so, but so far that has been the only down side to this adventure. For the most part, We Love It.

Surprise

We were able to come home for the weekend and go to a surprise birthday party for my Uncle Hubert. He will be 76 on Friday. Needless to say he was very surprised. There was 60 to 75 people there, mostly family. It was nice to get to see everyone again. We also got to go to our church this morning, which was really nice. We haven't been home on a Sunday in about 5 weeks. There were quite a few new faces, which is always nice. We are back on the road again now. We are headed up to Cullman AL, and then over to Monroe, GA. I don't know where from there, but we are suppose to be getting a bigger truck sometime this week and we will have to go to Cullman to do that. I post pictures as soon as we get it.

Ride along

My sister-in-law wanted to go for a ride along. We had to run down to Lakeland and pick up some furniture to take to Cullman AL on Sunday afternoon, so she went with us.
